Shape In Time
- Date: 1992 - 1997
The Shape In Time pieces derived their form from previous work, with an interest in finding a structure in which I could explore linear ideas that created transformation, rhythm, counterpoint and other musical characteristics. The “fugue” or “canon” especially interested me. I needed a structure that would still allow drawing/sculptural interplay, and wanted to create a visual experience the viewer would move through and not see all at once, of time and memory (like listening to music or reading prose or poetry), that was also a combination of a past, present and future image (what has been seen, what is being seen, and what will be seen) as part of one statement.
